Boost Your Immune System With Fire Cider

Whether it’s the change in seasons, kids going back to school, or cold and flu season, one of the natural things you can do to both boost and support your immune system -- and help with fluid circulation in the body (ie: blood, lymphatic and digestive fluids) -- is to take a small dose of Fire Cider every day (or as needed).

Fire Cider is a powerful antioxidant tonic that is also antibacterial, antiviral, antimicrobial, and anti-inflammatory. Here’s what you’ll need to make 1 liter of Fire Cider for your family!

INGREDIENTS

1L Bragg’s apple cider vinegar

1 lemon, sliced

1 orange, sliced

1 grapefruit, sliced

1 medium onion, diced

3 cinnamon sticks

3 TBSP whole peppercorns

½ cup elderberries

½ cup chopped fresh horseradish root

½ cup chopped fresh ginger root

5 -10 cloves of fresh garlic, minced

1-2 jalapeño, chopped

One sprig each of fresh rosemary, thyme, oregano and/or fresh sage

½ cup chopped fresh turmeric root (optional)

1/2 cup raw local honey

METHOD

Step 1:
Place all ingredients into a clean, 11.9L glass jar. **DO NOT ADD THE HONEY IN YET**

Step 2:
Cover completely with the apple cider vinegar.

Step 3:
Place a lid on the jar and shake to combine ingredients. Let sit for 3 to 4 weeks in a cool/dark place, shaking once every day or two (or whenever you remember!).

Step 4:
Strain out the ingredients but reserve the vinegar. Add the honey and shake well to combine.

Step 5:
You’re Fire Cider is now ready! Store in a cool, dark place.

HOW TO TAKE YOUR FIRE CIDER

You’ll take 1 TBSP (or one shot glass) of fire cider daily during cold and flu season to ward off potential illness. If already sick, up the dosage as needed. If you find the fire cider is too strong, chase with a spoonful of raw honey. If this feels like too much for you — cause’ it’s STRONG — dilute with some warm water and start off with 1 teaspoon. You can always work your way up.

Here are some other ways you can get the Fire Cider down the hatch:

-Add to a Bloody Mary or Virgin Mary

 -Drizzle over steamed veggies

-Use as a marinade for meat/tofu

 -Add to soup or chili

Do YOU have experience making Fire Cider? Use anything different than I do? I’d love to hear your ideas!
