Would You Put Kool-Aid Into A Ferrari Gas Tank?
I treat my body like a Ferrari.
Even though I LOVE dark chocolate peanut butter cups and Chifles plantain chips, 80% of my fuel comes from nutrient dense, whole foods.
It wasn’t ALWAYS like this though. Pre health crisis, I ate Burger King Whoppers with fries and washed it down with a Diet Coke….or I’d pound down Subway (with Sun Chips and a cookie) weekly. I’d eat McDonalds egg and cheese biscuits and several cups of coffee when the craving hit. I’d guzzle down giant bowls of ice cream every single night without a second thought — I’ve always been petite, so watching what I ate was never a thing for me. (Please don’t hate on me)
Enter health crisis after my youngest was born…. The gift that came wrapped in really ugly wrapping paper. And a MAJOR wake up call when it came to my overall wellbeing (and nutrition).
EVERYTHING changed for me after that event. I had no choice. All of a sudden, I had food allergies that I never had before. Everything I ate made me feel like vomiting or having the runs. Even healthy food made my belly bloat so badly I looked pregnant. I broke out in rashes all over my belly and right hand. Bleeding, itchy, scaling skin became the norm and I felt SO HELPLESS as to what to do.
My daily diet completely changed out of necessity. Now I can’t even begin to imagine eating like I ate pre-health crisis. I would be so so so sick! And I’d feel terrible!
Listen, you can work out all you want. You can use essential oils 10x a day and take all the supplements in the world….but if your daily food choices suck….. you’re going to pay for it one way or another. Maybe now….or maybe later. I don’t want that for you.
One of the things I hear from my clients is how overwhelming it feels to try and clean up their eating habits.
I TOTALLY UNDERSTAND. The key? Take BABY STEPS and only baby steps. Once you’ve made one change —- and that change becomes a habit —- then add in the next thing. Don’t take anything away without giving yourself a replacement and healthy alternative.
For example, instead of eating a candy bar, have some banana slices/strawberries and drizzle dark chocolate over it. You’ll get a serving of fruit — and take care of that chocolate craving too!
Other examples to help you would be instead of chips with your sandwich at lunch, try a side of fruit or some crunchy veggies with dip every other day (working your way to daily).
If soda is your thing, try replacing one can with a glass of water flavored with a squeeze of lemon or an orange. If that’s a pain in the butt — grab one of doTERRA’s citrus essential oils and use a few drops in your water. Its cheaper and guess what? You get even MORE health benefits from the oils!
Remember, food = fuel. You can put in the cheap CapriSun Kool Aid crap in the tank….. or you can put in the Dom Pérignon champagne. You’re “engine” will feel the difference. Trust me.
