We're All In This Together
Just like you, I have been affected by all that has been taking place in the world for the last few weeks.
My heart is a bit tender and I've had my own feelings about it all. I’ve experienced the concern, the fear, the shortages of toilet paper….and then an incredible sense of peace. I’m choosing to stay locked down in the position of faith over fear.
The next month or two will be an interesting time for us all and I’m a huge believer in keeping a healthy, positive mindset despite the challenging times we are in. Remember, it’s not what happens but how you respond to it!
With that said, here are a few tips for you:
1. Be mindful, not fearful
Things have shifted very quickly and for some, it’s a huge shift. I want to encourage you to look at this season as an opportunity to anchor into your faith and nourish yourself with positive things.
Use wisdom by taking the necessary precautions – this also includes protecting your MIND.
Put boundaries in place around how much you will allow yourself to look at social media or watch/listen to the news. There is a lot of fear/anxiety in the air right now – most of it coming through these sources. Constantly consuming these things will do more harm than good. Try picking up a good book or get to work on your favorite hobby.
2. Lean into your community to get support and give support.
Even though we are socially distancing this doesn’t mean you have to be alone! Pick up the phone and call someone you’ve meant to connect with for the last (__Week/Month/Year___). Invite a friend to join you for tea via FaceTime. Check-in on your neighbors. Join an online community around the interests you have like gardening, fitness, cooking, art, etc.
If you would like extra support around your health and wellness while the world is upside down, I’m opening up a private Facebook group just for you!

3. Don’t let your self-care go down the drain.
If you are a mom of school-aged children and suddenly find yourself juggling working from home on top of now being a homeschool teacher, this will be even more crucial for your sanity! #PreachingToMyselfHereToo
(Or if your kids are grown or don’t have any…. this is for you too!)
In times of high stress, it’s easy to forgo self-care. Now is NOT the time to do this!!!
Make sure that you are getting extra sleep (your immune system needs it), drinking lots of water, eating more fruits/veggies, taking your supplements (probiotics are crucial right now), doing something you enjoy doing for FUN, getting out in the sunshine, and moving your body daily.
Speaking of moving your body, just because gyms are closed does not mean that you can’t get a workout in. Go for a walk, ride your bike, take a swim in your pool, play outside with the kids, lift some weights at home, etc. There are lots of resources online for things that you can do at home. Your body and mind will thank you as those happy endorphins are released!
If you are new to the concept of self-care or want to improve your current level of self-care, I’d love to point you in the direction of Tiffany Peterson. Tiffany is a friend of mine, a well-respected international speaker, business/life coach and.... she happens to be a self-care GENIUS.
She helped me to up-level my own self-care and I know she can help up-level yours too. Tiff has a free Self-Care Guide available on her website. Get your copy by CLICKING HERE.
4. Spread some good news.
There’s a lot of suffering taking place on a global level right now with this thing. It seems like there is more bad news than good that’s coming out so if you’ve got good news, SHARE IT! It seems to me that people are so relieved to hear a praise report of some kind. Remember, what you focus on, grows. Let’s focus on thoughts and news that are life-producing!
So, to get us started in that direction, I have some good news to share with you!
As you may or may not know, my family is relocating to Charlotte, NC this summer. We sold our house in Miami a few weeks ago and have been house hunting for our new NC house since September 2019. I think we have seen about 28 homes since then!
Last week, I stumbled upon a home that snagged the attention of my heart right away. It wasn’t in an area we had even considered living – like, AT ALL – but it was just so beautiful that I called our realtor and asked her if she’d go check it out. She and I did a FaceTime walk through (gotta love technology!!!) and I was a smitten kitten to say the least.
That evening, we got the, “you need to get on a plane” call from our agent. Within the hour, my husband booked us on a flight, we got the kids packed and off to Grandma’s and we were on a plane at 7:00 the next morning. (Yes, we braved Coronavirus and you’d better believe I was spraying everything down and trying not to breathe or touch anything the entire flight.)
The moment I set foot in the house I FINALLY experienced what had been missing in every other house we had seen. That undeniable feeling that gently – yet oh so loudly -- says, “THIS is IT! THIS is HOME!!!!!”
We made an offer within the next hour and yesterday, got the call that our offer was accepted and the home is OURS!
So that’s MY good news. Do you have any good news to share? I’d love to hear all about it. Please comment below if you’d like to share!
